The Dutch Republic

Privacy Policy

Our software and our services are our products, not your data.

Your privacy is important to The Dutch Republic so we have developed a Privacy Policy that covers how we collect, use, disclose, transfer, and store your (personal) information.

This Privacy Policy was updated on February 17th, 2026.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

Personal information is data that can be used to identify or contact a single person. In general, we do not collect or store any personal information. There are two exceptions:

We will save your personal information when you are in contact with The Dutch Republic or with an affiliated company of The Dutch Republic Examples of these contacts are email, social media, a form on a website, contact functionality in an app, in-person contacts, etcetera. Information you provide when you are in contact with us will not be used for something else than the reason(s) of the contact. We will never use it for marketing purposes. You are not required to provide any personal information, but if you chose not to do so, in many cases, we would not be able to respond to any queries you may have.

If you subscribe to one of our email subscription lists, we store the personal information you provide in order to send you the emails. We outsource the handling of our email subscription lists to third parties, which store your personal information on our behalf. The particular third party for a specific email list is mentioned in the email. If you don't want your personal information collected and stored, do not subscribe to any email subscription list. If you want your personal data to be removed, unsubscribe from all of our mailing lists.

Collection and Use of Non-Personal Information

We collect data in a form that does not, on its own, permit direct association with any specific individual. We may collect, use, transfer, and disclose non-personal information for any purpose. For example, we collect data about app installs, (in-)app purchases, app use, and crashes.

All apps (versions) released on or after January 1st, 2020, only use services provided by Apple to gather this non-personal information. Apple only gathers and shares this information with us if the user gives explicit consent.

All apps (versions) released before January 1st, 2020, may use services now provided by Google to gather this non-personal information. Specifically, we used Fabric, which includes Crashlitics. We never started using Firebase after Google deprecated Fabric.

If we do combine non-personal information with personal information, the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined.

Cookies and Other Technologies

The Dutch Republic's websites, online services, interactive applications (like iOS apps), email messages, and advertisements DO NOT USE "cookies" and other technologies such as pixel tags and web beacons. We also do not use services like Google Analytics for websites.

However, when you subscribe to one of our email lists, the situation may be different. In some of our email messages, we use a "click-through URL" linked to content on one of our websites. When customers click one of these URLs, they pass through a separate web server before arriving at the destination page on our website. We track this click-through data to help us determine interest in particular topics and measure the effectiveness of our customer communications. If you prefer not to be tracked in this way, you should not click text or graphic links in the email messages. Pixel tags enable us to send email messages in a format customers can read, and they tell us whether mail has been opened. We may use this information to reduce or eliminate messages sent to customers.

As is true of most internet services, we gather some information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type and language, Internet service provider (ISP), referring and exit websites and applications, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We may use this information to understand and analyze trends, to administer the site, to learn about user behavior on the site, to improve our product and services, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. The Dutch Republic may use this information in our marketing and advertising services.

Others

It may be necessary (by law, legal process, litigation, and/or requests from public and governmental authorities within or outside your country of residence) for The Dutch Republic to disclose your personal information. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that for purposes of national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary or appropriate. We may also disclose information about you, but only where there is a lawful basis for doing so if we determine that disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce our terms and conditions or protect our operations or users. This could include providing information to public or governmental authorities. Additionally, in the event of a reorganization, merger, or sale, we may transfer any and all personal information we collect to the relevant third party.
